Stardust Survivors v0.0.4 - Ability Evolutions
Welcome back, Scions!
We've just posted a new demo update to Stardust Survivors for your enjoyment! You can grab it here: https://boundergames.itch.io/stardust-survivors
Major Features - Crystal Star Caches and Ability Evolutions
We have an update going live today introducing a brand new feature - Ability Evolutions! These powerful upgrades to your abilities can be found inside Crystal Star Caches, which normally drop from special scenarios within a level. For now, we've added these Crystal Star Caches at several points throughout the level so you can try out our first ability to gain an evolution - Crescent Blade!
Crescent Blade can evolve into Crescent Edge and Counter Eclipse - try them both out and see which one is your favourite!
Other abilities will gain evolutions in a future update - look forward to it!
You might also notice a cheeky art style update for our main character, Luna. Marcy's update to come!
Bug Fixes
- Narcetus' Drill Surge attack no longer repeats indefinitely
- Many Xards no longer cause performance issues
- You Foe enemies now correctly appear and go real fast!
- Shooting Stars ability now correctly has a spread to the projectile firing pattern
- Shooting Stars ability now correctly has large projectiles, as described in the upgrade description
- Crescent Blade now uses a sword and not a big glowing purple two by four
- Multiple level ups should no longer cause the level up UI to get stuck on the screen, but this still needs some work
- Enemies (unless they can fly), Stardust, and Xards should no longer spawn outside of the normal walkable area
Known Issues
- Currently only Crescent Blade can be evolved - more Ability Evolutions on the way!
- An error message may appear when starting the level, related to a texture. It can be safely closed.
- An error message may appear when stunning many enemies, related to the "LeanTween" library. It can be safely closed.
- The first time either the Crystal Star Cache or the Counter Eclipse level 10 appear, they cause a performance spike for a short time.
- If Counter Eclipse is levelled up from level 4 or lower to level 5 or higher, it can cause the attack timings to not match up with the moon graphic.
- Narcetus can get knocked away by Breathtaking Beauty while diving.
- The biggest Starshroom's stun graphic appears inside it's giant mushroom head and cannot be seen.
- Marcy now has an older art style than Luna, she will be updated soon.
- The user interface is still mostly placeholder, and there are places where controller/keyboard support is only partially implemented
Thank You!
Thank you so much for trying out our game - it means a lot to us!
We are also so excited to see the design data coming in from the choices you're making while playing. In the last month, you created a combined total of over 600 upgrades - that's a lot! We were really happy to see the upgrade numbers were pretty even, with Ray of Hope currently the most popular.
Thank you to everyone who submitted bugs for our last build! Remember you can submit bugs or give us suggestions using our bug reporting tool here: https://boundergames.com/press/stardust_survivors/jira/bugreport.html
Also a huge thank you to those who took our player survey, it really helps us understand our audience! If you didn't take the survey already and have a few minutes, please give us your thoughts here: https://forms.gle/CH3xRCPbBf7ic3dr7
See you in a few weeks for the next update!
